Diversification vs competition :/

Miguel Anton, Florian Ederer, Mireia Gine, and Martin C. Schmalz say:

We show theoretically and empirically that executives are paid less for their own firm's performance and more for their rivals' performance if an industry's firms are more commonly owned by the same set of investors. Higher common ownership also leads to higher unconditional total pay. We exploit quasi-exogenous variation in common ownership from a mutual fund trading scandal to support a causal interpretation.

There are no green great dragons

From the book "The Elements of Eloquence" by Mark Forsyth:

adjectives in English absolutely have to be in this order: opinion-size-age-shape-colour-origin-material-purpose Noun. So you can have a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife. But if you mess with that word order in the slightest you'll sound like a maniac. It's an odd thing that every English speaker uses that list, but almost none of us could write it out. And as size comes before colour, green great dragons can't exist.

Do generative Natural Language Processing models know this? Have Recurrent Neural Nets been found to learn it?

I love this. :D

This is how I remind you…

This Wordpress blog is currently set up to fetch all my Facebook posts and save them as draft blog posts.
My hope is that this will prove a good way to have a searchable archive of my FB content, and to occasionally review interesting posts and craft them into something more substantial.
I use the FeedWordPress plugin to fetch an RSS feed of my Facebook posts. This RSS feed is generated by FBRSS.
As of this writing I'm only just starting to try this out. Suggestions welcome!
